Alessandro Fioretto awarded the Golden Lion for Merit
The prestigious recognition for art, culture and entrepreneurship was presented on 3 October 2025 in Venice.
During an official ceremony held on 3 October at the historic Palazzo of the Veneto Region in Venice, Alessandro Fioretto, founder and CEO of Italchimica, received the Golden Lion for Merit, one of the most prestigious honours conferred within the framework of the Venice International Grand Prix 2025.
The award celebrates individuals who have distinguished themselves for their contribution to society in various fields, united by a strong civic spirit and a concrete commitment to the common good.
The official motivation for conferring the award to Alessandro Fioretto highlights his role as a national reference point for his enlightened entrepreneurial vision and his constant commitment to promoting sustainable innovation in the chemical sector. Under his leadership, Italchimica has successfully combined technology, environmental responsibility and quality, establishing itself as a virtuous example of an Italian company able to compete internationally.
The Golden Lion Committee particularly recognised his dedication to developing eco-friendly solutions, his attention to collective well-being and his ability to turn corporate culture into a driver of social and economic progress.
In his speech, Alessandro Fioretto thanked the organisers and, above all, the people who make up Italchimica:
“I am honoured to receive this Golden Lion, which I dedicate to the entire Italchimica team. In just over twenty years, we have become a leading player in a market dominated by large multinationals, thanks to listening to our customers and building solid partnerships. But the true driving force behind our success is our people – the talents we have been able to attract, develop and retain. To them, to our partners and to our clients, this recognition belongs. Thank you.”
Among the other awardees at this year’s edition were General Giuseppe Vadalà, Extraordinary Commissioner for the Remediation of Illegal Landfills; Damiano Tommasi, former footballer and current Mayor of Verona; Prof. Avv. Paco D’Onofrio, jurist and university lecturer; and Dr. Giovanni Lombardi, founder of the Nefrocenter healthcare group.
The Golden Lion, established in 1932, is today awarded through the Venice International Grand Prix, an institution that since 1947 has celebrated art, culture and civic commitment in all their forms. The award is promoted by the Armando Curcio Publishing Group, Venice in The World Srl, and since 2023 by the Golden Lion Foundation, a philanthropic organisation that ensures its continuity and ethical value.
This award represents a positive signal for the business world and for all those organisations that, like Italchimica, combine innovation, responsibility and care for people.
